Youth Health & Equity
Hawa Barrie has a passion for working with and advocating for children and youth. With a diploma, a bachelor’s degree, and a master’s degree in child and youth work, she has a keen interest in policy change, anti-Black racism and equity-related issues, research, and uplifting Black youth and families.
Hawa plans to implement programs for Black youth within the education sector and change policies to better equip to the cultural and racial needs of Black boys and girls in education. According to Hawa, BCAN has not only provided her with the opportunity to work with an amazing team of motivated and inspiring Black leaders and community members, but more importantly, it has made her realize how she would like to leave her footprint on this earth as a 'Black child' a youth worker, and as a Black woman.'
